Directions: |
Have the children sort the cards by suit. Can they put the cards in order from 1-10?

Children turn over two cards at a time. Children place the cards in the appropriate pile. (This would be a fun game to play
with a friend.)

file folder or poster board 12” x 10”, counting toys, fact cards

Directions: |
Draw lines on the folder similar to the ones below. Demonstrate how to make a set in the top left section and a set in the top right section. Count. Pull down the objects into the bottom section and count how many altogether. Children take fact cards and join sets using the math mat. |

Use math mats for demonstrating how to find the missing addend.
You can also use divided plates in a similar way.

Directions: |
Fold the paper in half lengthwise. Open. Fold upper corners to the creased line to create a roof. Fold up the bottom edge to the roof as shown. Children write a number word on the front of the house and the numeral on the roof. Open the house and draw sets or addition facts that equal that number.
