Rain

It’s raining, it’s pouring,                (Make rain by wiggling fingers
The old man is snoring.                 in a downward motion.)
He went to bed,
And he bumped his head,            (Pretend to bump hand with palm.)
And he couldn’t get up in the morning.      (Shake head “no.”)

Rain, rain, go away,                     (Make rain with fingers.)
Come again another day.
All the children want to play.
Rain, rain, go away.

It’s raining, it’s pouring,
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed, and he bumped his head,
And he couldn’t get up in the morning.

Old Man Snoring

Have children draw pictures of the “old man snoring.” Put them together to make a book. Discuss figurative speech. How is snoring like thunder? What does “raining cats and dogs” mean?
