Teachers, The REAL American Idols!

O.K. So I’m not ashamed to admit that I am a HUGE American Idol fan! That’s why when I saw the above logo on a teacher’s backpack I went nuts! YOU are famous and adored by the children you teach each day! You are someone that they can look up to and you are someone that they can count on in this crazy world. Thank you!

Happy Birthday Letters!

Your students are going to LOVE this idea that started with Kari Sullivan from Roanoke, VA. First, you have to get kind of loose like a rapper and dance around as you say:

Yo, A, it’s your birthday.
Gonna read you like it’s your birthday.
/a/ /a/ /a/ /a/ /a/ /a/               (Make short a sound to
/a/ /a/ /a/ /a/ /a/ /a/                 the “Happy Birthday” tune.)

Jenny Landers created this book that you can print for your classroom. Visit our downloads section and get your own book titled “Yo Letters” to go with the rap. And to make it even more fun for your students, Dana Grove from Pataskala, Ohio, made a rapper necklace for her children to wear as they sing the song.
