Student Recipes for Your Classroom

YOGURT SUNDAES -

    You will need:
        vanilla yogurt
        fruit (strawberries, bananas, blueberries)
        granola
        cups and spoons
    Directions:
        1. Wash your hands.
        2. Rinse the fruit and cut into bite-size pieces.
        3. Fill a cup 2/3 full with yogurt.
        4. Add fruit and stir.
        5. Sprinkle granola on top.

Hint! Colored sugar on yogurt also makes a colorful treat.

PEANUT BUTTER PLAY DOUGH -

    You will need:
        smooth peanut butter
        instant nonfat dry milk
        honey
    Directions:
        1. Wash your hands.
        2. Put 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup dry milk,
            and ¼ cup honey in a bowl.
        3. Mix well.
        4. Give each child a small ball to roll on wax paper.
            They can form it into snakes, bunnies, or bears.

Hint! Decorate with raisins. Make balls and roll in oatmeal.
*Here’s a recipe for yummy chocolate mud. Mix 1 cup canned chocolate frosting, 1 cup peanut butter, and 2 cups instant nonfat dry milk. Mold and eat! MMMMM!

PARTY CUPCAKES -

    You will need:
        cake mix
        eggs, oil, water
        flat bottom ice cream cones
        muffin pan
        icing
    Directions:
        1. Wash your hands.
        2. Prepare cake mix according to directions.
        3. Place the ice cream cones in the muffin pans.
        4. Fill the cones half full with the cake batter.
        5. Bake at 350 until springy to the touch.
        6. Cool, ice, and decorate.

Hint! Don’t fill the cones too full or the batter will spill out and burn.
*Give children candy sprinkles or chocolate chips to decorate their cupcakes.

DOG FOOD -

    You will need:
        12 oz. bag chocolate chips
        1 cup peanut butter
        1 stick butter
        10-12 oz. box Multi-Bran Chex Cereal
        powdered sugar
    Directions:
        1. Wash your hands.
        2. Melt the first three ingredients in a pan over low heat.
        3. Pour the mixture over the Chex cereal and mix until coated.
        4. Put 2 paper grocery sacks together, one inside the other.
            Pour ½ cup powdered sugar into the bottom of the bag.
            Pour in the cereal mixture, close the bag, and shake.
            Keep checking and adding powdered sugar until the mixture
            looks like dog food.

For fun, serve in a clean dog food bowl!

FINGER JELLO -

    You will need:
        2 packages unflavored gelatin
        2 (3 oz.) packages fruit flavored gelatin
        2 ½ cups boiling water
    Directions:
        1. Wash your hands.
        2. Mix dry gelatins together.
        3. Add boiling water and stir well.
        4. Pour into a jelly roll pan and refrigerate.
        5. Cut into small squares.

Hint! Pour onto a cookie sheet to make a thin layer. Cut out cookie cutter shapes after it hardens.
