Film Canister - Cut long strips of paper 2" wide. Write a "long" sentence, numbers, or the alphabet on the strips. Roll up and insert in the film canister.
Click picture for larger image Sandwich Book - You will need two paper plates for this book. Fold one plate in half. Open and cut in on the rim approximately 2" from each side on the creased line. Fold the second plate in half. Trim off the creased edge between the rim. Roll up the first plate and insert it in the hole in the second plate. Fold. Write a "how to" book about your favorite sandwich. Old Mother Hubbard - Have children bring in environmental print from boxes or bags of foods they like. Make a cover for a book that looks like Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard. Write the nursery rhyme: "Old Mother Hubbard went to her cupboard to get her poor dog a bone. But when she got there, the cupboard was bare, and so the poor dog had…." at the top of the page. Glue the print in the middle of the page and write the word at the bottom of the page as shown. Attach with a book ring to have a book children will WANT to read over and over.
