GET ON BOARD

GET ON BOARD
(Tune: "Get On Board Little Children")
Begin "chugging" around the room as you sing this song.
Children grab on to your waist
and "chug" with you when their name is called.
I have a friend that you all know, and first child's name is his/her name.
I have a friend that you all know, and second child's name is his/her name.
Get on board, little children. Get on board, little children.
Get on board, little children. There's room for many a-more.
Continue singing children's names until the whole class is part of your
train. Chug over to the circle area and sit down for group time.

COMPLIMENT CIRCLE
Children sit in a circle and the teacher begins by giving a child a compliment. The first child then passes on a compliment to another child and so on until everyone has had a turn giving and receiving a compliment.

STOMP, STOMP. CLAP
Begin this pattern: stomp, stomp, clap ~ stomp, stomp, clap, etc
(It's similar to the beat of "We Will Rock You.")
Say the chant below to the beat:
Teacher's name class is super.
We think first child's name is super.
We think second child's name is super.
We think third child's name is super,
And so on using each child's name in the room.

STARTING LINE-UP
Have children form two lines facing each other.
Choose one child at a time and introduce them as you would a football player. For example: "Here's Jason Jones from Atlanta, Georgia. He is six years old and enjoys soccer and reading. His favorite subject is science. Let's hear it for Jason!" That child runs between the two lines as his friends give him high fives and pats on the back.
Hint! Older children could write their own descriptions.

HELLO BOOK

Hint! You could also let the children draw their picture for this book.
