TEDDY BEAR SANDWICH
You will need:
slice of cheese
1 slice of bread
teddy bear cookie cutter
Directions:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Cut a teddy bear out of the cheese
3. Place the cheese teddy bear on the bread.
Hint! You can take half a slice of bread and make a blanket to put on your teddy bear.
ICE CREAM IN A BAG
You will need:
1 gallon size heavy duty zip bag
1 sandwich size heavy duty zip bag
1 cup whole milk
1 heaping teaspoon of sugar
1 squirt chocolate or strawberry syrup
2 handfuls of ice
1 tablespoon rock salt
Directions:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Pour the milk, sugar, and chocolate in the sandwich bag and zip.
3. Place that bag in the larger bag, and then fill with ice.
4. Sprinkle on the salt and zip shut.
5. Throw the bag up and down for about 10 minutes until it starts to harden.
6. Yum! We all scream for ice cream!
Hint! Wear mittens or gloves to keep your hands warm.
*You can also make homemade ice cream with a small and a large coffee can. Fill the smaller can with the ice cream mixture. Place it in the larger can and pack with ice and salt. Children can “kick the can” until it freezes.
FIRE CRACKER SANDWICH
You will need:
slice of bread
peanut butter, jelly, tuna fish, or pimento cheese
plastic wrap
curling ribbon
Directions:
1. Wash your hands
2. Cut the crust off your bread
3. Flatten the bread with the palm of your hand.
4. Spread peanut butter, tuna, or pimento cheese on the bread.
5. Roll it up.
6. Wrap it in plastic wrap.
7. Twist the ends, and then tie with ribbons to resemble a firecracker.
DREAM SICLE DRINK
You will need:
orange juice
frozen vanilla yogurt
blender
Directions:
1. Wash your hands
2. Add 1 cup of frozen yogurt to the blender.
3. Put 2 cup of orange juice in the blender.
4. Blend 15 seconds or until smooth.
5. What a “cool” drink!
Hint! Pour into paper cups. Insert a popsicle stick in each cup and freeze to make a frozen dreamsicle
*Substitute grape juice for the orange juice to make a “purple cow.”
POLKA DOT PIZZA
You will need:
1 English muffin
pizza sauce
sliced pepperoni
mozzarella cheese (grated)
Directions:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Spread 2 tablespoons of sauce on half a muffin.
3. Put 4 slices of pepperoni on top.
4. Sprinkle with cheese.
5. Broil in the oven until the cheese melts.
6. Mama Mia! What a pizza!
Hint! Try other toppings like bacon, green pepper, or mushrooms.
STIR FRIED O’S
You will need:
Cheerios
butter or margarine
cinnamon sugar
Directions:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Put 2 tablespoons of butter in the pan.
3. Melt the butter, and then stir in 3 cups of Cheerios.
4. Stir over medium heat until they are toasty and lightly browned.
5. Sprinkle on cinnamon sugar and toss.
Hint! Use salt instead of cinnamon sugar and it will taste like popcorn!
TORTILLA ROLL-UPS
You will need:
small flour tortillas
meat slices (ham or turkey)
cheese slices
mayonnaise
Directions:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Spread mayonnaise on the tortilla.
3. Place a piece of meat and a slice of cheese on the tortilla.
4. Roll it up.
5. Slice into bite-size pieces.
6. Ole!
PUDDING POPS
You will need:
1 large (4oz.) package of regular pudding mix (not instant)
3 cups milk
large marshmallows
popsicle sticks
paper cups
aluminum foil
Directions:
1. Stir the pudding mix and milk until well blended.
2. Fill cups half full with the pudding mixture.
3. Put a marshmallow on the end of the popsicle sticks, then insert them in the cups.
4. Cover with foil to keep the marshmallows down.
5. Freeze and enjoy!
Hint! Here’s another yummy frozen treat. Mix 2 cups plain yogurt with 1 can of frozen orange or grape juice concentrate. Freeze in cups and eat with a spoon.
