WHY? letter recognition; high frequency words; math facts
WHAT? cardboard, markers
HOW? Cut out 30 cars from cardboard using the attached pattern.
Write a letter (word, math fact) on each car. On four cars
write the word “crash.” Mix up the cars and place them face
down on the floor or table. One at a time, children draw a
car and identify the information on it. They may keep the car
if they are correct. If they pick “Crash,” they must return their
other cars to the bottom of the pile. Be sure to click Downloads in the menu to the left for a printable pattern.
Bull’s Eye
Why? phonics; math concepts; science or social studies review
What? index cards, hole punch, golf tee, highlighter
How? Write math facts on the front of the index card. Punch 3 holes
at the bottom and write a possible answer by each hole.
Turn the card over and make a circle around the hole of the
correct answer. Children take a golf tee and stick it in the
hole by their guess. Then they turn it over and self check.
