December, 2007 - Candy Necklace - This would be a great project for a parent volunteer to make with your class. You will need cling wrap, curing ribbon, and wrapped candy. Spread out a 2-3’ piece of cling wrap on a table. Place pieces of candy every 3 or 4” and roll up. Tie curing ribbon between the candies. Tie the ends together and add a bell. You could also make this necklace with little toys or healthy snack foods. Candy Cane - Cut an 8 ½” square from white paper. Color red around all four sides as shown. Turn the paper diagonally and begin rolling from one point to the opposite point. Glue the point. Bend to make a candy cane. Candy Cane Book - Fold 3 sheets of paper in half. Punch holes about 2” from each end. Insert a rubber band in one hole and slide the end of a candy cane through the loop. Insert the other end of the rubber band through the other whole and slide the other end of the rubber band through that loop. Have children use the book for seasonal vocabulary words or to write stories. Giving Book - Fold paper in half and staple. Help children write the name of someone in their family at the top of each page. Give them store advertisements and let them cut out pictures of presents they would like to give to each person. |
