Scarecrow

(Stand up and stretch out your arms like a scarecrow. Tell the children to listen carefully and do what the scarecrow says!)

Scarecrow, scarecrow, turn around.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, touch the ground.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, wiggle your nose.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, touch your toes.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, wave up high.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, make your arms fly.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, give a clap.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, give a snap.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, jump, jump, jump.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, thump, thump, thump.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, wiggle your knees.
Scarecrow, scarecrow, sit quietly please.

Make a class scarecrow with some old clothes, panty hose, and sticks. First, cross the sticks and tie firmly to make an "x." Stuff part of the pantyhose with fiber fill and tie on the top of the sticks for the head. Decorate with button eyes, pom pom nose and a felt mouth. Let the children wad up newspaper to stuff the body. Add a hat and name your scarecrow. Have children write directions on "how to make a scarecrow." They could also write original stories about what would happen if the scarecrow came to life.
