SOMEONE'S IN THE KITCHEN!

FAIRY BREAD

You will need:

bread
butter or margarine
colored sugar sprinkles

Directions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Spread butter or margarine on a slice of bread.
3. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
4. Cut diagonally into 4 small triangles.

Hint! This is a special treat children in Australia have at parties.

MICRO NACHOS

You will need:

tortilla chips
jar of mild salsa
grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella or Mexican mix)

Directions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Spread chips on a paper plate.
3. Spoon on several tablespoons of salsa.
4. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
5. Microwave on high until the cheese melts.
6. Ole!

DIRT CAKE

You will need:

chocolate instant pudding
milk
crushed chocolate creme cookies
Cool Whip or other dairy topping
gummy worms
sunflower seeds
construction paper, straw

Directions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Prepare the pudding and put a layer of it in a plastic cup.
3. Put cool whip on top of the pudding.
4. Sprinkle crushed cookies on top.
5. Add a gummy worm and a few sunflower seeds.
6. Draw a flower on a piece of paper. Tape it to a straw and stick it in your dirt.

Hint! Make a large dirt cake for the whole class in a clean flower pot. Layer pudding, Cool Whip, crushed cookies, pudding, Cool Whip, crushed cookies. Top with worms and seeds.

Try a sand castle cake, too. Use vanilla pudding, Cool Whip, and crushed vanilla wafers. Add a gummy fish and paper umbrella.

GREEN EGGS AND HAM

You will need:

eggs
sliced ham (pre-cooked)
green food coloring
margarine

Directions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Beat six eggs together.
3. Cut 2 slices of ham into small pieces and add to the eggs.
4. Stir in several drops of food coloring.
5. Heat 1 tablespoon of margarine in a skillet.
6. Add the eggs and stir and cook until they are soft.
7. Try them! Try them! You will see. Green eggs and ham taste good to me!

Hint! Adjust the number of eggs to the number of people eating.

BUNNY SALAD

You will need:

lettuce
leaves
pear halves
cottage cheese
carrot sticks
raisins
maraschino cherries

Directions:

1. Wash your hands
2. Lay down a lettuce leaf.
3. Put a pear on top for the bunny's body.
4. Add raisins for eyes.
5. Make a mouth from a cherry.
6. Use carrot sticks for the ears.
7. Add a spoonful of cottage cheese for the tail.
8. "Hop" to it and eat!

OCTOPUS

You will need:

hot dogs
toothpicks
mustard and ketchup

Directions:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Cut the hot dog in half (widthwise).
3. Cut 4 slits up from the bottom of each half.
4. Draw a face on the top with a toothpick.
5. Cook in boiling water several minutes until the "legs" curl up.
6. Dip in mustard and ketchup.

Hint! If you cut a hot dog lengthwise into long strips and cook them, they will look like "worms."
