This month we have added a Flash version of the PowerPoint files. Files created with the newer versions of PowerPoint may have features, especially animations, that don't work in the older versions. To help you have access to the files with all of their intended features, we have converted them to Flash files and listed them with the PowerPoint versions. Over 90% of the computers in use in the US today have the Flash player installed.

If you download the Flash version, look near the bottom right corner for an icon that will expand the presentation so that it fills your whole screen.

Blending Buddies (game board and cards) (1.5 MB pdf file)

Valerie Balbaugh, Stephenville, TX, is one of many who attended Dr. Jean's workshops this summer, had a wonderful time and took away some great ideas. Valerie sent this game, "Blending Buddies," that she made specifically for her 1st graders last year when they were having difficulties blending Open Court Phonics' vowel digraphs. She told Dr. Jean, "I know that not all of the words are super easy, but they all have a picture cue using "DJ Inkers" clipart. This project took me a long time to complete, and I hope it can be of use to others." She has used shortened versions of this game for tutoring, guided reading, and literacy centers. Valerie concluded, "Thanks so much for doing what you do!"
