A CORNUCOPIA OF NEW IDEAS

SOCIAL STUDIES

USA ALPHABET BOOK - Have children write letters to relatives in different parts of the United States.

Give each relative an alphabet letter and ask them to send pictures about places, people, or things in their area that begin with the letter. Put their information together to make a USA Alphabet Book.

Hint! It'd be great if you could tie in the city or state they live in with the alphabet letter. For example: A-Arkansas, B-Baltimore, C- California, etc.

CURRENT EVENTS - Help children learn the name of their community, city, state, Governor, country, President, and other meaningful information with this song to the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus."

The name of my school is ___, ___, ___. The name of my school is ___. That's the name of my school. The name of my city is... The name of my state is... The name of my Governor is... The name of my country is United States. The name of my President is...
