I Have a Friend (Tune: "Little Liza Jane")

I have a friend that you all know
And child's name is his/her name.
I have a friend that you all know
And child's name is his/her name.
Get on board, child's name.
Get on board, child's name.
Get on board, child's name.
There's room for many a more.

Make a train by placing your hands on each other's shoulders and "chug" around the room and pick up friends..

The Name of My School (Tune: "The Wheels on the Bus")

The name of my school is name school,
Name school, name school.
The name of my school is name school.
That's the name of my school.

Continue singing the tune inserting the teacher's name, principal's name, and other information.

Echo Song (Tune: "Where Is Thumbkin?")

Who has two eyes? (Teacher asks)
I have two eyes. (Children respond)
Who has one nose? (Teacher asks)
I have one nose. (Children respond)
Who has two ears? (Teacher asks)
I have two ears. (Children respond)
Now we know. (Clap and sing together)
Now we know. Continue singing other questions about eye color, pets, siblings, likes, hobbies, etc.

We Like You (Tune: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas")

We like you because you're wonderful.
We like you because you're wonderful.
We like you because you're wonderful.
We really like you!

Sing this song to each child inserting an adjective for that child. You could sing "helpful," "friendly," "kind," etc. Children could choose their own adjective, or you could write adjectives on index cards and pull them from a box.

Hey, Hey, What Do You Say? (Say this chant each day before children go home.)

Hey, hey, what do you say?
What did you learn in school today?

Go around the room and let each child say something they learned or liked about school.
